Hanukkah (The Festival of Lights)

“Hanukkah” (meaning “Dedication” in English) is an Eight Day Festival that commemorates the events prophesied in the Book of Daniel and chronicled in the Historical Books of First and Second Maccabees and book 12 of Antiquities of the Jews by Josephus. The Festival celebrates the eight day rededication of the Temple to the Lord, Yahweh, which had been desecrated when the Seleucid Empire under the control of a fiendish king, ravaged Israel and tried to completely eradicate the covenant that Yahweh had made with His people and replace it with Hellenism and the worship of foreign deities.

Yahweh used the valiant efforts of a relatively small army of men who refused to compromise their worship of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob or from following His Torah. With Yah’s help, they were able to defeat the largest, best equipped and trained fighting force of the then known world and paved the way for Yahweh to send His Messiah as the Savior of mankind.
